Aditya Khan’s Corner of the Internet ;)

Hey all! I’m Aditya Khan, a graduating honours bachelors student (data science, statistics, computer science) at the University of Toronto, and currenly a ML Research Intern at the Vector Institute. I will be joining Columbia University this fall as a Ph.D. student in Statistics!

People always ask: “what are your research interests?” I always end up giving one of two answers, depending on who asks:

  1. To someone in statistics, or a potential employer/supervisor: On the theoretical side, I study methods for nonparametric uncertainty quantification. On the applied side, I enjoy working with correlated data (namely, spatiotemporal data) with application to transportation and healthcare.
  2. To anyone else: I am a generalist that’s worked in everything from theoretical and applied statistics, to natural language processing, to AI for healthcare, to mathematical biology, all the way to education and equity. At the end of the day, what I really care about is helping people and making impactful research. It doesn’t matter how.

A note on my name, since I also often get this question. I am Bangladeshi, so my name is আদিত্য খান, and hence my first name is pronounced “A-dit-to” with a soft “d” and “t”. This is my preferred pronunciation. But since most people are more familiar with the Hindi pronunciation of my name, I will usually just tell them to pronounce it as “Aa-dit-ya”. Feel free to call me either, but most people know me by the latter.
